My name is Alain (Alan) Mokbel, and I practice a style of karate called Kyokushinkaikan, which was developed by Masutatsu Oyama (or Mas Oyama) in 1964 and brought to Mexico by Dr. Gessi Krame (7th dan).
I am part of the So-Kyokushin Mexico organization led by Jacobo Ramirez, Branch Chief of So-Kyokushin.
Our karate style is characterized by intense training and by the combat format known as “knockdown,” where competitors fight (generally) without protective gear and continue until victory is achieved by knockout, withdrawal, or clear domination of the match.
This tournament format helped popularize the style worldwide and has had an important influence on all combat sports.
Although my own time competing in these sporting events has passed, my personal training, as well as what I teach, is now more focused on self-defense and “real” combat—better described as non-sport fighting.
The purpose of this website is to show the martial arts community that Kyokushin Karate can offer much more than just a sport-oriented practice.
I invite you to explore the articles published on this site, and if you are interested in training and practicing with us, you can check the list of schools in our organization in the menu.
I wish you a great day and hope the information is entertaining, useful, and enriching.
Osu!
